Bee with Cherry Blossoms

This oil painting depicts one of the many bumble bees that land on the cherry trees outside of my studio. I started the piece to challenge myself in the use of white and green paint colors and to depict a fleeting moment. I love to study bees as they gather pollen from flowers during the warm spring and summer days. My husband and family are avid gardeners and plant breeders, and are always interested in attracting the right pollinators to the yard. The hum of the bee’s wings and the smell of the blossoms are intoxicating! I respond to scenes of nature and how the eye processes abstract shapes to create a representational scene. This painting comes with a beautiful wood frame.
